Description: Up for bid is an extremely rare piece of art historical ephemera featuring a black and white halftone reproduction of NUDE DESCENDING A STAIRCASE by the legendary French artist MARCEL DUCHAMP. This postcard comes from a set of 54 original artist's cards that were published by the Association of American Painters and Sculptors and distributed for free to attendees of the legendary 1913 ARMORY SHOW. Other postcards from the original full set included works by Picasso, Brancusi, Matisse, Cezanne, Van Gogh and Gauguin. The Armory Show (also known as the International Exhibition of Modern Art), was held from Feb 17- March 15, 1913 at the 69th Regiment Armory at 68 Lexington Avenue in NYC. The exhibition was extremely popular to the masses, and marked the very first introduction of the emerging European modern art movements, including Fauvism, Cubism, Futurism, and Expressionism, to American audiences. The card is in excellent unused vintage condition with only very tiny corner bumps and minor paper toning. Printed on a medium weight card stock and guaranteed to be authentic. Measures approximately 5.5" x 3.5". Safe flat shipping to all domestic locations via USPS. All foreign locations to ship via ebay international shipping program.
