Description: This antique lithograph by the inventor of color lithographs, James S. Baillie, NY, depicts the iconic scene of Christ kneeling at center washing his disciples' feet seated in front of him. Seven other men gather around them. Only colors are yellow, blue, and distinct red in the robes of two disciples and Jesus Christ. The hand-tinted multi-color print on paper captures the realism and illustration art style of the mid to late 19th century, and is framed to enhance its beauty and impact. This is an extremely rare find for any art collector or religious enthusiast. No other copy seems to be available online. The only other similar lithograph by Currier & Ives is located in the archives of Springfield Museums, Springfield MA, where the colors, especially the red, are much faded. The medium-sized piece is framed under glass and overall measures 13 inches in width, 17 inches in height, and 1 inch in depth. The print was produced by J Baillie at 118 Nassau St, New York, USA using lithography technique likely in mid-1800s. This is an antique piece and is being sold as is. No COA available. The art is in great condition for its age with very mild tanning and foxing at the edges. The frame is likely original and has age related wear with scuff marks and chipping at multiple spots. Please see photos carefully and reach out with any questions before purchasing (mock up pictures for illustration purposes only). Artist bio — James S.
